See what I mean?
Emma asked to go to the zoo today, so David figured out how to get there via Metro (remember what I said about having a map in his head?) He did use the actual map. We've downloaded the Ulmon map of Paris, which is available off-line and has a Metro map included. Very handy. The Park Zoologique is an easy walk from the nearest Metro stop and it's a great zoo. There's a park nearby which would be lots of fun with little kids - rowboats on a pond, bicycles to rent, and plenty of spots for a pique-nique.
We didn't bring pique-nique supplies and thus had what I trust will be our worst meal in Paris. Zoo food is zoo food wherever you go. It was a warm, sunny day, so most of the cats and other mammals were snoozing. Some of the monkeys are always busy, though.
You've all been to the zoo, somewhere, so I won't bore you with the details. There were animals. There were children. There were parents and teachers? camp counselors? supervising adults. It was fun.
After the zoo, we took a tram (light rail) back to the Metro (different line) to return to the Ile St Louis to continue our close investigation of Parisian ice cream.
Emma had stracciatella (don't call it chocolate chip!) with raspberry sorbet. I had salted caramel (OH OH OH) and chocolate. David, who can't eat ice cream (insert "awww" sound here), had chocolate sorbet and roasted pineapple with fresh basil. We haven't yet agreed on which is better. I foresee more testing in our future.
It's now 7:00 PM and, of course, it's bright and sunny out. The agent for the apartment we're renting came by at 6:00 with his homemade fois gras and a half-bottle of Medoc to have with it. Delightful. We'll head out to dinner shortly and then go back to the Internet Cafe so Emma can post her next vlog and we can check in for our flight to Sweden and print boarding passes if necessary.
Tomorrow is a travel day - drive to the airport here, fly to Stockholm, bus to the railroad, train to Kristinehamn, where my sister-in-law's mother will meet us. I don't know what our internet access will be like in Sweden, so there may not be another post until we get back to Paris on Sunday. A bientot!
Tres bien! The ice cream testing sounds delightful! Safe travels tomorrow! :) - Amanda
